The orange variety of Chalcedony. Also known as Carnelian. Carnelian is a Semi Translucent and is found in shades from Yellowish Orange to Orangy Red to Brownish Orange. This type of stone is often fashioned into beads. Ancient Civilizations beleived that carnelian transformed poor or timid speakers into eloquent ones. Carnelian was first mined in India in the fourth Century BC. Common current sources are Brazil, and India.
